Medical Supply Technician

job duties:

· Medical Supply technicians will be required to perform work in a wide range of systematized supply operations, such as performing records functions in inventory, storage, cataloging, and receipt and control processes.

· Overseeing stock maintenance at of within prescribed levels and establish or adjust stock levels and reorder points using standard formula and prescribed procedures.

· Conducting physical inventories and adjust and/or maintain inventory, stock, plant, or property account records.

· Receive and screen lists or other documents specifying supplies or materials needed for planned programs or work operations and collate and assemble lists of equipment and parts needed for acquisition plans.

· Initiate, prepare, edit, and process requisitions to stock, commodity control, or other appropriate supply organizations.

· Search catalogs, records, or other data sources to obtain or correct stock numbers or to authorized substitutes for stock items.

· Contact customers, supply organizations, transportation units, and others to obtain material status information, follow urgently required items, and/or expedite delivery of material to work sites.

· Process documentation for stock item receipts, maintain such items in a supply room or similar storage area, issue material to shop or work center personnel, keep local stock records, reorder when stocks are low or at a specified reorder point, prepare standard reports such as variances between actual and estimated costs, and perform related stock receipt, storage, control, and issue functions for expendable and non-expendable items for, a local organization.

· Identify requirements and requisition, issue, or distribute office and administrative supplies, forms, publications, or other printed materials.

· Operate computer terminals or personal computers to perform records search, data input, and data corrections. Decontamination.

· Assures that reusable medical supplies, instruments and are received, disassembled and inspected for damage prior to process cleaning. Sterilization.

· In preparing packs and trays, strives for a compact, logically arranged package that will permit effective penetration of the sterilizing medium. Selects correct method for Removes soil, dried blood, tissue fragments, proteinaceous material, and other gross contaminants by washing, soaking, rinsing, and use of ultrasonic equipment. Loads and operates and other cleaning equipment. Periodically tests operation of equipment for effectiveness of sterilization.

· Receives sterilized trays, sets, packs, items, and equipment from the sterilizer, checks for effectiveness of sterilization. Attaches labels on sterilized material indicating of sterilization and expiration date, and stocks shelves and sterilized materials.

Schedule:

7:30 am - 4 pm, 2.00 pm - 10.30 pm. 40 hours per week. Rotating weekends and rotating Holidays.

$22.41 per hour

Expected hours:

40 per week

Qualifications:

· Must demonstrate skills of reading and writing in English supply packaging and label directions.

· Must be able to operate a computer and basic applications such as email, Microsoft office.

· Experience in a patient care facility.

· Preferred six months in medical supply experience.
