job duties:
- Providing chair side assistance to the dental officers and dental hygienist.
- Demonstrating complete familiarity with four-handed dentistry with respect to technical methods and procedures.
- Performing sterilization and disinfection techniques of instruments.
- Taking, developing, and mounting dental x-rays including bite wings, periapical, and Panorex. Expanded duty functions and dental lab duties.
- Clerical duties such as scheduling of patient appointments, maintaining daily activity logs, maintaining stock supplies, and identifying supplies needing to be ordered.
- Maintaining accountability of instruments and other dental supplies. Performing equipment maintenance per manufacturer and/or CDO instructions. Accomplishing minor repairs to keep equipment in proper operating condition.
- Participating in or completing Improving Organizational Performance (IOP) activities and/or studies.
- Participation in emergency training exercises and maintaining skills in operation of emergency equipment.
- Providing Chief Dental Officer’s (CDO) approved patient education to inmate patients

Schedule:
- The dental assistant will normally work 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., with a thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch period. However, the hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution.
- 8-hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends

Pay:
- $27.01 per hour
Requirements:
- Ability to commute/relocate: Marianna, FL: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Qualifications:
- At a minimum, the dental assistant must have a medical/technical background obtained through education or on the job training in the Certified Dental Assistant field. Must possess a high school certificate of graduation or GED.
- The individual performing the services must possess certification as a Certified Dental Assistant and Certification in Expanded Functions, or at a minimum, six (6) months experience as a Certified Dental Assistant.
License/Certification:
- Possess an active FL License.
- Current CPR with American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 3 months of start date.
- X-Ray Certification (Preferred)
- Certified Dental Assistant (Preferred)
- EFDA Certification (Preferred)
- Registered Dental Assistant (Preferred)
- CPR Certification (Preferred)
Experience:
- Dental assisting: 1 year (Preferred)
