Vice President of Development – Multifamily Assets

job duties:
- Manage the entire development cycle of assigned properties, ensuring successful completion within budget and schedule.
- Provide timely preliminary feedback based on industry knowledge, market dynamics, design trends, and project cost information.
- Cultivate relationships with contractors, developers, property owners, civic organizations, government officials, and the brokerage community.
- Strategize with the leadership team on the initial planning process, including conceptual design direction and evaluation of alternatives.
- Consider potential entitlement challenges, market conditions, and required investment returns when making strategic decisions.
- Review and assist with proforma underwriting to ensure viability and consistency with investment objectives.
- Plan, organize, and conduct regular project team meetings to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality objectives.
- Identify challenges and opportunities during the development process and provide efficient and creative solutions.
- Communicate suggested changes to the leadership team for effective implementation.
- Evaluate the impact of technical advice on the business plan and projected returns.
- Consult with the leadership team to provide creative solutions and alternatives for potential deal challenges.
- Prepare monthly reports, including updates on budget, schedule, and market conditions.
- Assess potential impacts to the business plan and investment returns and communicate findings to the leadership team.
- Collaborate with the leadership team throughout the entire process, including marketing/leasing plans, change orders, and strategic decisions.
- Ensure a smooth transition to the assigned Regional Vice President and property management team upon project completion.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in business, real estate, finance, architecture, urban planning, or related major.
- MBA, MRED, or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in multifamily development, redevelopment, and acquisitions.
- Demonstrated experience in conceptualizing, site planning, programming, and navigating government/zoning regulations.
- Proficient in reviewing conceptual design plans and specifications, as well as real estate legal documents.
- Strong project management experience, including contractor and consultant selection, contracting, and management.
- Direct experience in negotiating development and construction-related contracts and procuring entitlements.
- Ability to analyze and interpret econometric research, zoning regulations, and real estate legal documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for budgeting and financial projections.
